Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented accountant that will take the role of Accountant & Business Support Officer. This role offers the opportunity to take lead and responsibility for managing the accounting function within a small and dynamic company. You will play a key role in managing day-to-day financial operations, while also supporting a range of corporate, administrative, and operational activities. This is a hands-on and multifunctional role, ideal for an experienced accountant who is self-motivated, adaptable and eager to contribute across multiple facets of a growing operation. This position offers autonomy, ownership, and the opportunity to develop a broad skill set within a highly collaborative environment. This position is in English.
Responsibilities
1. Accounting Duties:
- Responsible for expense and invoice management, producing billing, manage accounts, and perform bookkeeping.
- Create and manage ledgers, balance sheets, financial reports and other accounting documentation; report variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Process procurements, check and/or issue invoices, perform payments and produce reconciliations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Perform expense reviews and produce expense report data.
- Track project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts, including by preparing statistics
- Prepare regular reports on financial and operational metrics.
- Review and manage trade compliance and VAT documentation including managing shipment paperwork.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support auditing and compliance efforts.
2. Corporate, Administrative and Office Coordination:
- Manage administrative procedures, processes, and systems to ensure efficiency.
- Perform corporate coordination and administrative tasks to support various departments, management and company activities and obligations.
- Organize and maintain files, records and data, ensuring they are up to date and accessible.
- Perform paperwork reviews and coordination and draft reports and other documentation as requested, handling sensitive information with discretion.
- Provide support for logistics and other matters
- If requested, assist with HR-related tasks such as maintaining employee records, onboarding and processing payroll.
- Liaise and coordinate with different departments, collaborators, customers, vendors, authorities, banks and others as needed and ensure effective communication and coordination to support company operations.
- Provide general support to management as needed.
- Perform various facility management tasks to maintain a functional and organized workspace.
- Participate in meetings and/or trainings as requested.
- Support corporate and operational needs.
- Manage mail and communication.
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation enhancements.
Qualifications
Prior solid hands-on accounting experience and fluency in both English and Italian are mandatory. The ideal candidate has previously handled end-to-end accounting processes with a high degree of autonomy and accuracy.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
· Accounting Qualification.
· Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
· Ability to independently lead the Accounting department within a small business setting.
· Strong understanding of compliance, VAT, and financial documentation.
· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a high attention to detail.
· Self-starter, solution-oriented, and capable of working autonomously.
· Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with English speaking clients, vendors and collaborators.
· Fluency in both English and Italian is mandatory.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
· Knowledge of finance/accounting software will be considered an advantage.
· Needs to be flexible and open to supporting various business functions as part of a small, agile team.
